What “$1,500 all-in” actually buys
$1,500 covers a real international trip from the US — round-trip flight, 7-10 nights of accommodation, food, in-country transport, and one or two paid activities. The trick is matching destination + season + booking style. Below are 10 trips that work in 2026.

How to actually hit $1,500
- Travel shoulder season. Same trip, 30-50% off vs peak. Europe in May or October; SE Asia in February-March; Caribbean in November.
- Book flights on Tuesday afternoons — small-sample evidence airlines drop prices midweek.
- Use open-jaw multi-city flights. Often the same price as round-trip but saves an internal flight.
- Set price alerts on Google Flights or Hopper, then book the moment the alert fires.
- Stay in 3-star hotels, not 4. The price doubles for marginal upgrade in most countries.
- Eat lunch out, dinner in. Set lunch menus are half dinner prices for the same kitchen.
- Book one signature activity, free everything else. One paid thing per trip turns into the memory.
